Gilchrist County has a full-time opening for a Building Official. This position will perform a variety of administrative, supervisory and technical work in administering and enforcing Gilchrist County building and related codes. Position will supervise employees of the Community Development department. Must communicate well with the public. Will enforce all applicable building codes, coordinate plan reviews, inspections and enforcement actions. Complete all Building Inspections and Code Enforcement inspections. Investigate and research complaints regarding commercial and residential buildings, building construction and code compliance. Maintains records and documents of department. Prepares and oversees budget for Community Development department. Administers the permitting function, including application, permit fee’s assessment and collection, permit issuance, inspection and occupancy.
Applications must include copies of Florida Certified Building Code Administrator’s License and driver's license.
Position requires:
- Current State of Florida Certified Building Code Administrator License (Building Official), by the Department of Business Professional Regulation under chapter 568 Florida Statues to perform, at a minimum pursuant to Florida Statute - Chapter 468.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s license.
- Background and drug screening
- An incumbent of this job classification will be required to file a financial disclosure statement (Form 1) with the Supervisor of Elections in their county of residence, in compliance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 112, Part III. Such filing is required within 30 days of placement in a covered position, annually thereafter by no later than July 1 of each year in which they serve in the covered position, and within 60 days of leaving the covered position.
